1 Shirt, 7 Ways: Part II

I hope this will make your life a little easier next time you can't figure out what to wear. :)

Instead of actually wearing the shirt, consider using it to accessorize.
If you are wearing something that isn't fitted, tie it around your waist
and it gives you an  instant minus 2".  (Who doesn't love that?)

The best way to mix prints w/texture: pick one to override the others.
For example, combine a small plaid pattern with girly wide lace.
Give your nude pumps the day off and pair this outfit with a great pair of fuchsia or neon orange pumps.
It might seem a little too ballsy but fashion is all about taking risks.

Raspberry + Blue = Totally Chic.
Even though these are wide legged drawstring pants, this outfit is probably the most feminine.
By unbuttoning the top few buttons, you can create a chic-er look.
One of my favorite ways to accessorize is to wear antique broaches.

This outfit is really chic and very versatile.
You could wear this to the office or to night out with your girls.
The necklace insinuates the dark color in the skirt and elongates the torso.

This was an easy look to accomplish.
I took three pieces of clothing and transformed them into a more effortless look.
I barely tucked the tee into the side of the skirt (a trick I like to do to establish my waist), popped the collar after buttoning, and added a necklace.
The necklace brings out the color in the skirt and completes the trendy "flirty student" look.

Here I paired two totally different patterns and eased the eye with a neutral.
Yes, metallic is considered a neutral.

There are so many more ways to wear this shirt. For example, you could tuck this into a long bohemian skirt and a thin braided belt. Another way to wear this is layered under a blazer with a thicker coat on top (during chillier days). I hope my ideas help you to conjure some of your own original outfits!

1 Shirt, 7 Ways: Part I

I was standing in my closet looking for inspiration for my next entry when something fabulous caught my eye. This particular shirt stood out amongst the others because of the bright color and repetition of pattern. It was a men’s wear inspired button down I purchased from J. Crew about a year ago. I scammed my closet and realized that this shirt could either be an easy or complex addition to many outfits. So I challenged myself to see how many outfit examples I could put together using simply one basic shirt. Hints: 1 shirt, 7 ways.

P.S. This post will give you serious inspiration

2013 EMMY AWARDS

Okay, was it just me or did you guys not love the opening of last night's show? Neil Patrick Harris did a phenomenal job but Tina Fey and Amy Poehler killed it. I seriously could not stop laughing. If you missed the show, here are some of the funniest moments from last night, in GIFs.

Let's start off with the hilarious head bobbing moment performed by the one and only Claire Danes.
P.S. The more you watch it, the funnier it gets.

Hailed as the best Emmy speech yet, Merrit Wever delivered a 13 word "thank you".
"Thank you so much. Thank you so much. Um... I gotta go. Bye."
After that speech, I don't think one person kept a straight face.

Cheers to the hilarious duo for being the first to encourage the host to "twerk it" on stage.
(For a second there I thought he might actually do it...)

The super awkward moment that left everyone to almost peeing on themselves.
Three in one for Claire Danes last night: an Emmy and two hilarious GIFs.
Here we go again...
Too hot to handle ;)

Runway Pretty

When you think "fashion week" you think sleek garments, dazzling models, and A-List guests. Sadly, some people don't give a hoot about the makeup and nail artists. Reality check, they make it all come together, darling.

I just can't get over this Alexander Wang look.
The perfect oxymoron for it? Dramatic Minimalist.

So sleek.

3.1 Phillip Lam took layering to another level with his big event manis.
So bold yet so simple.

We will either see daring colors or au naturals on the runway this season.
Marimekko doesn't hold back.

I love this Ohne Title look.
It's simple, stunning, head-turning, and glamorous.
Pure elegance.

Go big or go home?
That's exactly what Marc Jacobs went for.
Cara Delivinge, the eyebrow goddess, displays a new bolder brow for the runway (if that's even possible).

Rodarte exhibits a new way to detail your mani.
This is such a fresh look.
Keeping the makeup simple, let your nails steal the spotlight.

"New York, I love you."

Enjoy, darlings :)

Drama (Queen)

I always love a bit of drama, it keeps things exciting. I don’t  mean people drama, I mean the “all eyes are on me” drama. I definitely wouldn't recommend wearing this shirt when you’re having a bad hair day.

This is what goes down every time I turn.
ie: drama
Can't forget about my adored "XO" necklace.
(Pretend like I'm not wearing it backwards.)
S/O to The Darlings xx
Oh, what a glorious day it is... *sarcasm*

Darling Little Dots

If you follow me on Twitter you will get day to day updates on each of my #OOTD(s). Only the best of the bests will wind up on here for your pleasure. Unfortunately it’s not every day that I get to dress up, but when I have the opportunity I always take it. When I put on this darling outfit I felt like I should be on my way to a tea party, not dinner. The only thing I am missing is a pair of lovely silk gloves.

WEARING: T.J. Maxx A-line dress, Anthropologie fluorescent ribbon belt, Prada tote, and TopShop gladiator chunky heels.

Not Just Another Weather Forecast

Hello Darlings,
"Every year the women of New York leave the past behind and look forward to the future... this is known as Fashion Week," -Carrie Bradshaw. Fashion addicts, like myself, look forward to this first week of September all. Year. Long. It's the one week that only fashion matters. After watching a few fashion shows I've put together a list of things that you should look forward to seeing this fall/winter.
Enjoy :]
